A Journey of Resilience: Harish Sharma’s Road to Parliament

A book titled “The Road to Parliament,” which chronicles the personal and political journey of former National Federation Party leader Harish Sharma, was launched at Jai Narayan College yesterday.

Mr. Sharma, who held roles such as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Housing, Urban Development, and Information following the 1987 General Elections, received accolades during the event. Current NFP leader and Coalition Government Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad praised Mr. Sharma, calling him “an embodiment of wisdom, authority, goodwill, and a shining example of what one can achieve in life through political morality, transparency, and accountability.”

Prof. Prasad remarked on the remarkable nature of Mr. Sharma’s memoirs, noting, “To almost reach 90 years of age and start writing memoirs is nothing short of a miracle.” He expressed his admiration for Mr. Sharma’s ability to recall and document his experiences accurately.

“The Road to Parliament – A glimpse into the life of Hon Harish C Sharma – is the work of a person of humility, kindness, decency, absolute integrity, and honesty,” Prof. Prasad stated. He shared insights into Mr. Sharma’s challenging childhood, which included losing his mother at a young age and facing difficulties while living with a family that treated him poorly during his school years.

Prof. Prasad emphasized that a person’s true worth is determined by how they handle adversity, commending Mr. Sharma for overcoming significant obstacles throughout his life. He concluded by describing “The Road to Parliament” as a significant achievement in Mr. Sharma’s illustrious journey.
