An Australian couple, Owen Twist and his wife Christine, are delighted to be back in Fiji. They were among over 2,000 passengers on the P&O Cruises Australia cruise ship that docked in Lautoka on Monday.
The Twists lived in Fiji during the early 1970s while serving the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Suva. “It feels so good to be back in Fiji. We were hoping to reconnect with some of our local friends through social media,” stated Mr. Twist. He noted their two-year commitment grew into a nine-year stay, reflecting on the special place Fiji holds in their hearts.
Their daughters, now nurses, also spent part of their childhood in Fiji, adding to the family’s strong ties to the islands. The couple expressed gratitude for the lasting relationships formed during their time there.
During their visit, they purchased Fijian handicrafts from local woodcarver Jone Sito as souvenirs. The cruise ship is scheduled to continue to Taveuni before returning to Sydney.
