Zahara Buksh expressed deep gratitude towards her father, Taufeek Buksh, for his sacrifices and unwavering support throughout her education. The 25-year-old recently graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the South Pacific. She highlighted her father’s role as a long-time taxi driver who worked hard to provide the best educational opportunities for her and her sibling.
Zahara also recognized her mother, Sunila Devi, a stay-at-home wife, for her significant contributions to the family’s future. “I got this passion from my father because he wanted to be a lawyer as well, and his family is full of lawyers. I’m doing this for them,” she stated. She pointed out that while her father was the sole provider, her mother dedicated herself to the home, allowing their father to focus on his work and their education.
Despite facing challenges, including the loss of his father at a young age and financial hardships, Taufeek Buksh remained committed to supporting his children’s academic pursuits. Zahara aims to pursue a career in public prosecution, driven by her passion for criminology and a desire to impact the justice system positively.
Zahara was among the 1,147 students who graduated this week from USP, with female graduates comprising 61 percent of the total number from all sessions.
