Recently, he, his wife, and their five children were evacuated from their house after floodwaters inundated their living space. Currently, they are among the evacuees taking shelter at Andrews Primary School in Nadi.

In 2019, Mr. Baleidreima, who works as a security guard, purchased a plot of land in Nawaijikuma Settlement, an area known for its susceptibility to floods. He built a temporary home for his family but has faced repeated evacuations whenever flooding occurs. With a goal of building a more secure house elevated on stilts, he expressed his desire to make this dream a reality. However, due to financial constraints and the need to prioritize his children’s education, he has found it challenging to move forward.

Mr. Baleidreima’s family consists of his eldest child attending Nadi Special School, his second child who is set to begin high school next year, and three younger children enrolled in primary school. He shared the harrowing experience of evacuating on Christmas Day when floodwaters rushed into their home. In the midst of the chaos, they gathered essential items before being safely transported to an evacuation center.

While the family patiently awaits the floodwaters to recede, Mr. Baleidreima plans to return home and begin clean-up efforts.
