Zahara Buksh expressed profound gratitude towards her father, Taufeek Buksh, who has been instrumental in her educational journey. The 25-year-old recently graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the South Pacific and recognized her father’s unwavering support as a long-time taxi driver, who made numerous sacrifices to ensure she received quality education.
Zahara also acknowledged her mother, Sunila Devi, a homemaker, for her crucial role in securing a bright future for their family. She shared that her father’s aspiration to become a lawyer and his family’s legal background fueled her ambition. “I got this passion from my father because he wanted to be a lawyer as well,” she stated, emphasizing that her achievements are a tribute to her parents’ efforts.
Despite facing hardships, including the early death of his father and financial constraints, Taufeek Buksh was dedicated to his children’s education. Zahara aims to pursue a career in public prosecution, driven by her passion for criminology and a desire to impact the justice system positively.
She was one of 1,147 graduates this week from USP, with women comprising 61 percent of the total graduates across all sessions.
