A donation of $5,000 has been made to launch the New Zealand-based Blue Light Program in Fiji, courtesy of the Fiji-New Zealand Business Council (FNZBC). This donation was presented during a networking event held by FNZBC in Suva last week.
Glyn Rowland, the Pacific superintendent of the New Zealand Police, emphasized that Blue Light is a non-profit organization collaborating with the New Zealand Police to provide assistance in areas that law enforcement cannot reach. He stated, “They engage with youth and communities, and their efforts genuinely make a difference.”
Rowland expressed his enthusiasm for Blue Light’s expansion into Fiji, mentioning his strong support for the organization in New Zealand. In Fiji, Blue Light partners with the Fiji Police Force to improve community services.
Brendon Crompton, the CEO of Blue Light, who attended the event, acknowledged the dedication of the Fijian police but pointed out that financial constraints hinder community-based program operations. He stated, “I’ve visited Fiji many times, and I believe my organization has dedicated its time to train with the Fiji Police. The police here are committed and just need financial support to run programs in schools and the community.”
Crompton expressed eagerness to implement planned programs with the Fiji Police Force using the funds from the donation.
