49 Drivers Lose Licenses: Are Traffic Laws Being Enforced?

The Land Transport Authority has revoked the driving licenses of 49 drivers from January to July this year, as reported by Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, Filipe Tuisawau, to Parliament. This action followed a series of violations, with a total of 106 drivers summoned to explain why their licenses should not be canceled.

Tuisawau noted that show-cause hearings were conducted for 76 drivers in the Central Division, 18 in the West, and 12 in the North. In addition to the canceled licenses, nine licenses were suspended, 47 drivers received warning letters, and one driver was counseled.

These measures reflect the Land Transport Authority’s commitment to upholding high standards of road safety and holding repeat offenders of traffic laws accountable. The government is dedicated to enhancing road safety through a comprehensive strategy that includes legislative changes, public education, and strict enforcement of traffic rules.
