29 Hopefuls Eager for Fiji Police Commissioner Role

The Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) has received twenty-nine applications for the position of Commissioner of the Fiji Police Force. COC chairman and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced this during a media interview in Tailevu.

Rabuka stated, “The COC will be meeting, and I believe 29 applications have been received which will be considered in the next COC meeting.” The upcoming meeting will take place after the return of Leader of the Opposition Inia Seruiratu, who is currently in Switzerland, along with Speaker of the House Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and Government whip Alitia Bainivalu.

Several senior police officers have expressed interest in the role, including former ACP Rusiate Tudravu. Other candidates for the position include current acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew and UN Assistant Secretary General Unaisi Vuniwaqa.
