The Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) has received twenty-nine applications for the position of Commissioner of the Fiji Police Force. COC chairman and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka confirmed this information during a media interview in Tailevu.
Rabuka stated, “The COC will be meeting, and I believe 29 applications have been received, which will be considered in the next COC meeting.” The upcoming meeting is anticipated to take place following the return of Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu, who is currently in Switzerland alongside Speaker of the House Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and Government whip Alitia Bainivalu.
Several senior police officials have shown interest in the position, including former Assistant Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu, current acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew, and UN Assistant Secretary-General Unaisi Vuniwaqa.
