The community of Ra successfully raised $117,000 during the Siga Vou Kei Ra Day event held on October 10 at Ra High School. This initiative, which began in 2017, has aimed to gather funds for a scholarship trust fund that benefits all native individuals from Ra and children whose mothers hail from the province.
Ratu Josaia Niudamu, the organizer of the event, stated that since its inception, they have surpassed $400,000 in total fundraising efforts. The group’s goal is to reach $500,000, at which point they will proceed with the Deed of Trust for the scholarship recipients.
Mr. Niudamu emphasized the importance of prioritizing education for the people of Ra, both locally and internationally. He believes that improved education can lead to significant changes in the community and help to break the cycle of poverty that currently affects the province.
