Signing of Letter of Agreement between USAID Ready and University of South Pacific for

Delivery of Project Management and Resilience Courses

On August 8, the United States Ambassador Judith Cefkin will witness the signing of a Letter of Agreement between the U.S. government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the University of the South Pacific to deliver accredited courses in project management and climate resilience across the Pacific.

Participants of these courses will include senior and mid-level managers of Government departments and NGOs and representatives from the private sector who have an interest in improving their skills to successfully manage the design and implementation of climate change adaptation/climate resilience projects across the Pacific.

The first project management course is slated to start in September in Kiribati and will be attended by a cohort of 30 people. This four-unit course includes a week-long in-person seminar followed by two months of on-line study. Following a second week-long seminar, participants will take part in two final months of on-line study. The course will be rolled out across USAID Ready’s focus countries over the next two years. The course in Kiribati represents USAID Ready’s first activity in that country.

The United States Government is pleased to partner with the University of South Pacific, Pacific Island Governments, civil society, and private sector to strengthen the resilience of all citizens in the region. The courses will improve the skills of government, NGOs and the private sector to successfully management on-going and future climate resilience projects.
